Apostolic Exarch of Germany and Scandinavia (Ukrainian)
Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh was born on 20 March 1967 in the village of Hirske (Mykolaiv district, Lviv region). He received priestly ordination on 17 March 1991 from Bishop Julian Woronowskyj, the Eparch of Sambir-Drohobych. On 28 May 2001 he received the title of Doctor of Theology at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University (Warsaw), with a dissertation on the topic "The Spiritual Life of a Monk on the Basis of the Works of St. Theodore the Studite." His episcopal ordination took place on 15 February 2006 in St. George's Cathedral in Lviv. On 18 February 2021 the Vatican announced that Pope Francis had appointed Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh as Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians of the Byzantine Rite in Germany and Scandinavia. His enthronement as Apostolic Exarch in Germany and Scandinavia took place on 18 April 2021 in the Cathedral Church of Maria Schutz and St. Andrew the Apostle in Munich.
