He was ordained a priest on Dec. 28, 1981, and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Madras-Mylapore on Dec. 28, 1998. His episcopal ordination was on Feb. 21, 1999. Bishop Dorairaj was a professor at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary before he became the archdiocesan prelate.
