Bishop Severo Cagátan Caérmare

Bishop Severo Cagátan Caérmare, Bishop of Dipolog, was born on October 22, 1969, in Poblacion, Sibutad, in the province of Zamboanga del Norte and in the Diocese of Dipolog. He studied philosophy at Cor Jesu Seminary and St. Vincent's College in Dipolog City from 1985 to 1990, and theology at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City from 1990 to 1995, where he took a master's degree in theology and a master's degree in pastoral ministry. He was ordained a deacon in November 1994, and he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Dipolog on April 22, 1996, at St. Anne Parish in Sibutad. He served as administrator of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in Godod from 1996 to 1997; as formator, professor, vocations director, procurator, spiritual director and diocesan liturgist at Cor Jesu Seminary in Dipolog City from 1997 to 2002; as administrator of San Isidore Parish in Gutalac from 2002 to 2003; as formator, professor and liturgist at St. Mary's Theologate in Ozamis City from 2003 to 2004; as rector, professor and liturgist at Cor Jesu Seminary from 2004 to 2006; as formator, professor and dean of studies at St. Mary's Theologate from 2006 to 2007; as rector and professor at St. Mary's Theologate from 2007 to 2013; and as parish administrator of San Antonio de Padua Parish in Gulayon, Dipolog City, from 2013. He was rector of the cathedral of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Dipolog City at the time of his appointment as bishop. On July 25, 2014, he was appointed Bishop of Dipolog. He received episcopal ordination on October 30, 2014, with Giuseppe Pinto as principal consecrator and Jose Ricare Manguiran and José Araneta Cabantan as co-consecrators. On December 6, 2017, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Iligan, an office he held until September 5, 2019.
