Archbishop of Dodoma
Archbishop Beatus Kinyaiya, O.F.M.Cap., Archbishop of Dodoma, was born on May 9, 1957, in Shimbwe, in the Diocese of Moshi. After primary studies at Shimbwe and secondary studies at the seminaries of Maua and Itaga, he completed his novitiate in the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin at Basita and made his perpetual profession on June 5, 1988. He studied philosophy at Kibosho Senior Seminary and theology at St. Charles Lwanga Senior Seminary in Segerea. He was ordained a priest on June 25, 1989. He obtained a bachelor's and a master's degree in combined studies in history, geography and philosophy from the University of London. He then served as vice-rector and teacher at the Franciscan seminary of Maua (1989-1992); rector of the same seminary (1996-1999); and provincial superior for Tanzania, president of the major superiors of the Capuchins of the East African Capuchin Conference and president of the Religious Superiors' Association of Tanzania (1999-2005). He subsequently spent a sabbatical year in Rome studying spiritual theology at the Pontifical University Antonianum. On April 22, 2006, he was appointed Bishop of Mbulu. He received episcopal ordination on July 2, 2006, with Polycarp Pengo as principal consecrator and Josaphat Louis Lebulu and Jude Thaddaeus Ruwa'ichi as co-consecrators. On November 6, 2014, he was appointed Archbishop of Dodoma, and he was installed on January 18, 2015.
