Bishop Pedro Manuel Salamanca Mantilla

Pedro Manuel Salamanca Mantilla was born in Bucaramanga on June 4, 1961. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Major Seminary of Bogotá. He obtained a Licentiate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on November 30, 1986, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Bogotá. He held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of the *Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro* parish (1987–1988), Parish Priest of the *Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo* parish (1988), and Formator at the Major Seminary of Bogotá (1988–1990; 1992–2006; and 2010–2012). Since 2006, he has served as the Archdiocesan Delegate for the coordination of the ongoing formation of the clergy, and since 2012, as Parish Priest of the *San Norberto* parish. He was born in Bucaramanga (Santander) on June 4, 1961, to the family of Pedro Salamanca and Olga Mantilla de Salamanca. He completed his primary and secondary education at the *Liceo de La Salle* (1976–1979). He studied Philosophy (1980–1982) and Theology (1982–1986) at the Major Seminary of Bogotá. He obtained a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from the Gregorian University (1990–1992) and pursued doctoral studies at the Catholic Institute of Paris (2000–2004). He was ordained a priest in Bogotá on November 30, 1986, by His Eminence Cardinal Mario Revollo Bravo, for service in the Archdiocese of Bogotá. He began his pastoral service as Parochial Vicar at *Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro* (1987), Parish Priest at *Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo* (1988), and a member of the leadership team at the Major Seminary (1988 and 1992). He also served as a member of the formation team at the Major Seminary (2005), Archbishop's Delegate for the coordination of the Commission for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy (2006), alternate member of the Board of Directors of the *Casa de Ejercicios Emaús* Foundation (2007), member of the Presbyteral Council, ecclesiastical advisor to the Private Association of the Faithful "Children of the Mother of God" (*Hijos de la Madre de Dios*), and member of the Superior Council of the *Casa del Sacerdote Mayor* Foundation (2008). He was confirmed as Coordinator of the Commission for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy and as a member of the formation team at the Major Seminary in 2010. He served as parish priest of San Norberto (2012), reviewer of writings for the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Emilio Sotomayor Luque (2013), and member of the Presbyteral Council (2014). He also served as Vicar General with Special Mandate, Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization, and Episcopal Vicar for Proclamation, Faith Formation, and Dialogue with Culture (2015). On November 7, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Bogotá. He was ordained a bishop on December 12 by His Eminence Cardinal Rubén Salazar Gómez. On June 5, 2021, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Facatativá, and on April 21, 2022, Pope Francis appointed him its Bishop, with him taking possession of the see on June 16 of that same year.
