Bishop Mario Toso

Fr. Mario Toso, S.D.B., was born in Mogliano Veneto (Treviso) on July 2, 1950. He has been a professed member of the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco since August 16, 1967. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Faculty of Theology in Turin, obtaining a Baccalaureate in Theology. He was ordained a priest on July 22, 1978. He earned a degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan (1978), a Licentiate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Salesian University (1981), and a Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University (1982). Among his many academic activities, he has been a lecturer in Philosophy at the Pontifical Salesian University since 1980 and a Full Professor of Theoretical Philosophy since 1991; he served as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the same university from 1994 to 2000 and as its Rector Magnificus from 2003 to 2009. He is a Consultor to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He is the author of various publications. He speaks French, Spanish, and English.
