Bishop Júlio César Souza de Jesus

Msgr. Júlio César Souza de Jesus was born on 27 July 1971 in Goiânia, in the archdiocese of the same name, in the State of Goiás. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Universidade Estadual do Ceará and in theology at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus Major Seminary in Teresina-PI. He subsequently obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He received priestly ordination on 27 June 1998, and was incardinated in the archdiocese of Teresina. He has held the following offices: parish priest of Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro in Demerval Lobão-PI, Santa Luzia and Menino Jesus de Praga in Teresina-PI, vice rector and professor of the Sagrado Coração de Jesus Major Seminary, and spiritual director and professor in the archdiocesan Diaconal School. On 11 July 2018 he was appointed titular bishop of Arba and auxiliary of Fortaleza, and received episcopal ordination the following 30 September.
