Archbishop of Florianópolis
Archbishop Wilson Tadeu Jönck, Archbishop of Florianópolis, was born on July 10, 1951, in Vidal Ramos, in the Diocese of Rio do Sul, in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. He completed his secondary studies at the São José minor seminary in Rio Negrinho and at Corupá, studied philosophy at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus convent in Brusque from 1972 to 1973, and studied theology at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus theological institute in Taubaté from 1974 to 1977. He made his religious profession in the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Dehonians, on February 2, 1972, and he was ordained a priest on December 17, 1977, at Vidal Ramos. He later took a degree in education at the Faculty of Philosophy of Varginha, from 1979 to 1981, and a licentiate in psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, from 1986 to 1990. He served as parochial vicar and then parish priest at Varginha, in the Diocese of Campanha, from 1978 to 1981; as director of the São José seminary at Rio Negrinho, in the Diocese of Joinville; as a formator at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus convent in Brusque from 1990 to 2000; and as parish priest of the Sagrado Coração de Jesus shrine in Joinville from 2000 to 2001. He was also a member of the Dehonian regional council for southern Brazil, a professor at the philosophy seminary in Brusque, and assistant to the novice master at the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Dehonian novitiate in Jaraguá do Sul. On June 11, 2003, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Gemellae in Byzacena and Auxiliary Bishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro. He received episcopal ordination on August 16, 2003, at Jaraguá do Sul, with Eusébio Oscar Scheid as principal consecrator and Orlando Brandes and Tito Buss as co-consecrators. On May 26, 2010, he was appointed Bishop of Tubarão, and he was installed on July 18, 2010. On September 28, 2011, he was appointed Archbishop of Florianópolis, and he was installed on November 15, 2011.
