Bishop Robert Muhiirwa

Robert Muhiirwa was born on October 23, 1958, in Ibonde, in the Diocese of Fort Portal. He pursued his studies both in his home country and in the USA, obtaining a Licentiate in Theology from the University of Notre Dame and a degree in Spiritual Theology from Duquesne University. He was ordained a priest on August 11, 1985, and incardinated into the Diocese of Fort Portal. He has held the following roles: chaplain, teacher, and diocesan animator for the "Pioneer Movement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus" (an organization combating alcoholism); parish priest; person in charge of the ongoing formation of priests in the diocese; and member of the College of Consultors and the Diocesan Finance Committee. He also serves as the parish priest of Virika Cathedral.
