Bishop of Gumaca
Bishop Euginius Longakit Cañete, C.I.C.M., Bishop of Gumaca, was born on July 8, 1966, in Liloan, Philippines, in the Archdiocese of Cebu. He made his first profession on January 1, 1987. He was ordained a priest for the same institute on December 18, 1995. He was incardinated in Missionaries of Jesus on June 12, 2002. On September 30, 2024, he was appointed Bishop of Gumaca. He received episcopal ordination on December 28, 2024, with Pablo Virgilio Siongco David as principal consecrator and Ruperto Cruz Santos and Jose Serofia Palma as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Gumaca on January 4, 2025. He is a member of Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
