Bishop of Gwalior
Joseph Thykkattil was born on February 14, 1952, in Enamakkal, Kerala. He attended St. Lawrence Minor Seminary in Agra and underwent his priestly formation at St. Joseph’s Regional Seminary in Allahabad. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Agra on April 25, 1988. He served as Vice-Principal of St. Peter’s College in Agra (1988–1990). Subsequently, he served as Parish Priest of Agra Cathedral (1990–1999) and later as Parish Priest in Noida (1999–2002). From 2002 to 2009, he was Rector of St. Lawrence Minor Seminary, and from 2009 to 2012, he served as Parish Priest in Mathura. He has served as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Agra since 2012. In 2018, he was appointed Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Church in Bharatpur.
