Bishop Lucius Hre Kung

Bishop Lucius Hre Kung, Bishop of Hakha, was born on February 4, 1959, in Hnaring, in the Diocese of Hakha. After his primary studies he attended the minor seminary of Mandalay, and studied philosophy and theology at the national major seminary, first at Mandalay and then at Yangon. He was ordained a priest for Hakha on February 23, 1989. He then served as parish priest at Tedim (1989-1997) and at Hnaring (1997-2006); vicar of the deanery of Hakha (2006-2010); parish priest of the cathedral from 2006; and vicar general from 2010. On October 19, 2013, he was appointed Bishop of Hakha. He received episcopal ordination on February 2, 2014, at Hakha, with Charles Maung Bo as principal consecrator and Nicholas Mang Thang and Felix Lian Khen Thang as co-consecrators.
