Bishop of Hamilton in Bermuda
Wiesław Śpiewak, C.R., was born on October 19, 1963, in Kraków, Poland. He made his first vows with the Resurrectionists on September 15, 1984. Subsequently, he pursued his philosophical studies at the Vincentian Institute in Kraków and his theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Theology from the Pontifical Institute in Kraków, while also completing the studies required for a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology with the Salesians in Rome. After making his perpetual vows, he was ordained a priest on May 19, 1990. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1990–1992: Vice-Rector of the Resurrectionist Minor Seminary in Poznań, Poland; 1992–1995: Director of Vocational Ministry and Secretary to the Provincial Superior in Warsaw and Kraków; 1996–1997: Director of Vocational Ministry and Head of the Emmaus Vocational Center in Mszana Górna; 1997–2005: Various roles at the Generalate in Rome; 1998–2014: Postulator General of the Congregation of the Resurrection; 1998–2003: Parish Priest of Santa Maria Maddalena in Capranica Prenestina; 2003–2009: Various roles at the Generalate in Rome; since 2010: Provincial Superior in Poland and Member of the Episcopal Commission for Migrants.
