Luis Alberto Huamán was born on February 5, 1970, in Tarma (Peru), in the diocese of the same name. He studied Civil Engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, and Philosophy at the Pontifical and Civil Faculty of Theology of Lima and the University of Cochabamba (Bolivia); subsequently, after attending the Gregorian University in Rome and the University of Cochabamba, he obtained a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Bolivian Catholic University. On January 10, 1997, he made his first religious vows in the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and later made his perpetual vows in Rome. He was ordained a priest on October 6, 2001, in Tarma. He held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Cristo Rey in Pueblo Nuevo, Chincha (Diocese of Ica); Promoter of the Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús Parish School, Chincha (2001–2003); Superior of the "BOLPER" international post-novitiate in Cochabamba and lecturer at the Interreligiosa de Nazaret (2004–2008); Parochial Vicar of San Eugenio in Villa Pagador, Cochabamba (2004–2005); Prison Chaplain in Cochabamba (2006–2007); Bursar of his Congregation's Delegation in Peru (2008–2010); Professor at the Conference of Religious of Peru (2009–2011); Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de la Paz in Comas, Diocese of Carabayllo, Peru (2009–2013); Superior of the General Delegation of the Oblates in Peru (2014–2016); and Member of the General Council for Latin America and the Caribbean in Rome (2016–2021). On May 21, 2021, he was elected Titular Bishop of Tepelta and Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Huancayo, receiving episcopal ordination on July 16 of that year. On January 7, 2001, he made his perpetual vows in Rome for the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, and on October 6, 2001, he was ordained a priest in Tarma (Peru). He has held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Cristo Rey, Pueblo Nuevo, and promoter of the Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús parish school in Chincha, Diocese of Ica (2001–2003); Superior of the BOLPER international post-novitiate in Cochabamba and professor at the Inter-religious Institute of Nazareth (2004–2008); Parochial Vicar of San Eugenio, Villa Pagador, Cochabamba (2004–2005); prison chaplain in Cochabamba (2006–2007); Bursar of the Congregation's delegation in Peru (2008–2010); professor for the Conference of Religious of Peru (2009–2011); Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de la Paz in Comas, Diocese of Carabayllo (2009–2013); and Superior of the General Delegation of the Oblates in Peru (2014–2016). Since 2016, he has served as a member of the General Council for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
