Bishop of Huancavélica
Monsignor Carlos Salcedo Ojeda was born in Comas, Lima, on November 25, 1960. He was the son of Alberto Salcedo Álvarez (deceased), a native of Acolla (Jauja), and Justina Ojeda Santos, whose parents were also from Acolla (Jauja). He entered the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on January 19, 1990, and professed his first religious vows on that same day in Asunción, Paraguay. He was ordained a deacon on August 30, 1994, at Our Lady of Peace Parish in the Comas district (Lima) by Msgr. Guido Breña, O.P., and subsequently received the gift of the priesthood on January 6, 1996, at the Lord of Miracles Parish (Comas, Lima). His studies included Philosophy and Theology at the "Juan XXIII" Higher Theological Institute in Lima (1985–1994); Catechesis at the Higher School of Evangelization in Lima (1986); spirituality in Bogotá, Colombia; and a course for formators of religious in Cochabamba, Bolivia (2005). In his pastoral ministry, he held the following positions: 1996, Parish Vicar at San Juan Parish (Puerto Rico); 1997–1999, Parish Vicar at Our Lady of Peace Parish (Comas, Lima) and Advisor for Youth Ministry (Vicariate II, Diocese of Carabayllo); 2000–2004, Pastor of San Francisco de Asís in Orcotuna (Huancayo) and Pastor of Señor de la Ascensión in Mito (Huancayo); 2006–2007, Director of the Pre-novitiate for the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Lima; 2006–2008, Secretary of the Oblate formation team for Latin America; and 2008–2011, Assistant to the Novice Master at the International Oblate Novitiate in Asunción, Paraguay. March 2011 – Pastor of San Francisco de Asís in Orcotuna (Huancayo); Pastor of Señor de Ascensión in Mito (Huancayo); Coordinator of Justice and Peace for the Oblate Delegation of Peru. 2015 – Episcopal Vicar of Vicariate III (Concepción) of the Archdiocese of Huancayo. 2016 – On January 30, it was announced that Pope Francis had appointed Father Carlos Alberto Salcedo Ojeda, OMI, as Auxiliary Bishop of Huancayo.
