Archbishop of Huế
Archbishop-elect Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân was born on 16 June 1957 in Hanoi. He attended the major seminary of Hanoi, and subsequently the Pontifical Urbanian University of Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in canon law. He received priestly ordination on 8 December 1987, and was ordained a bishop on 3 December 2007. He has held the following offices: parish priest of Thuong Thuy and Co Nhue (1988-1993); professor in the major seminary of Hanoi (1999-2006); secretary to the archbishop (1999-2002); secretary of the Episcopal Conference (2000-2007); episcopal vicar (2001-2003); parish priest of the Cathedral of Hanoi and vicar general (2003-2007); and bishop of Lang Són et Cao Bang (2007-2016). From 2016 to date he has been bishop of Ðà Nang.
