Bishop of Iași
Iosif Păuleț. He was born on October 17, 1954, in the village of Tămăşeni, Neamţ County. He completed his eight-year general education in Tămăşeni in 1969, the School for Cantors in Iaşi in 1973, and the "Saint Joseph" Roman Catholic Theological Institute in Iaşi in 1979. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1979, at the "Assumption of the Mother of God" Cathedral in Iaşi, by His Excellency Msgr. Jakab Antal, Auxiliary Bishop of Alba Iulia. He served as a parochial vicar in Oţeleni (August 1, 1979 – October 1, 1980), Pildeşti (October 1, 1980 – December 6, 1982), Iugani (December 6, 1982 – December 13, 1982), and Roman (December 13, 1982 – August 1, 1983); as parish priest in Schineni (August 1, 1983 – March 1, 1987) and Cireşoaia (March 1, 1987 – September 1, 1991); as spiritual director at the Major Seminary in Iaşi (September 1, 1991 – September 1, 1994) and the Minor Seminary in Bacău (September 1, 1994 – March 1, 1996); as parish priest in Oneşti (March 1, 1996 – August 31, 2010) and Dean of the Trotuş Deanery (March 28, 1996 – August 31, 2010); and as parish priest in Suceava (September 1, 2010 – August 5, 2019) and Dean of the Bucovina Deanery (October 1, 2010 – August 5, 2019). In his capacity as dean, he was an *ex officio* member of the Presbyteral Council and also served on the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Iaşi. On July 6, 2019, Pope Francis selected and appointed Msgr. Iosif Păuleţ as Bishop of Iaşi. The consecration was celebrated at the "Saint Mary, Queen" Cathedral in Iaşi on August 6, 2019, by Bishop Petru Gherghel, with Archbishop Ioan Robu and Bishop Aurel Percă serving as co-consecrators.
