Bishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation at Ibadan (Maronite)
Simon T. Faddoul is Bishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation at Ibadan [Annunciazione] (Maronite), Nigeria. He was born on 7 January 1958 in Dik El Mehdi, in the Archeparchy of Antélias. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at Saint-Esprit University of Kaslik, where he obtained a licentiate in education and teacher training in 1985. He then moved to the United States, where he obtained a licentiate in education and school administration from Providence College, Rhode Island, in 1986, and a doctorate in education and administration from the University of Cincinnati in 1989. He was ordained a priest on 9 August 1987 for the Archeparchy of Antélias. After priestly ordination, he served in pastoral ministry at St. Anthony Parish in Cincinnati, as a collaborator at the Cathedral of Nicosia in Cyprus, as parish priest of Saint Elie Church in Aïn Aar, and as parish priest of the Church of Jal El Dib-Bkennaya. He was president of Caritas-Lebanon from 2010 to 2013. On 13 January 2013, he was appointed apostolic exarch for Maronite faithful resident in Central and Western Africa and apostolic visitor for Maronite faithful resident in Southern Africa. In addition to Arabic, he speaks English and French, and knows Syriac, modern and ancient Greek, and Italian.
