Bishop of Ikot Ekpene
Camillus Raymond Umoh was born on July 18, 1956, in Nto Iblam, Okon Clan, Essien Udim L.G.A., Akwa Ibom State, in the Diocese of Ikot Ekpene. After attending primary school (St. Mary’s School in Ikot Utim and St. Michael School in Midim-Abak), he attended the Queen of Apostles Minor Seminary from 1971 to 1975. He completed his studies in Philosophy at St. Joseph Major Seminary in Ikot Ekpene (1976–1980) and in Theology at Bigard Memorial Seminary in Enugu (1980–1984). He was ordained a priest on July 7, 1984, and incardinated into the Diocese of Ikot Ekpene. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1984–1986: Parochial Vicar at St. John’s Parish, Abak; 1986–1988: Parish Priest at St. Alban’s, Inen; 1988–1991: Master’s degree in Biblical Theology at the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA); 1991–1993: Secretary to the Bishop in Ikot Ekpene; 1993–1999: Doctoral studies in Sacred Scripture at the Institute for Philosophy and Theology at Hochschule Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt, Germany; since 2000: Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Catholic Institute of West Africa in Port Harcourt.
