Bishop of Indore
Bishop Thomas Mathew Kuttimackal, Bishop of Indore, was born on February 25, 1962, in Kalloorkad, in Kerala and in the Eparchy of Kothamangalam (Syro-Malabar), and he belongs to the clergy of the Diocese of Indore. He was educated at the government lower primary school of Maniyanthram, at St. Augustine's High School in Kalloorkad and at Infant Jesus High School in Vazhakulam. His ecclesiastical formation was made at St. John's Mission Seminary in Changanacherry from 1977 to 1979, at the Khrist Premalaya minor seminary in Ashta from 1979 to 1980, at the Khrist Premalaya regional philosophate in Bhopal from 1980 to 1983 and at the Khrist Premalaya regional theologate in Ashta from 1984 to 1987, with a year of regency at the Rajeshwar school in Mhow from 1983 to 1984. He holds a bachelor of arts from Bhopal University, a master of arts in English literature and a bachelor of education from Indore University, the Rashtra Bhasha Ratna of the Rashtrabhasha Samiti of Wardha, a postgraduate diploma in theology from Lampeter University in Wales and a diploma in formation ministry from the Irish Missionary Union in Dublin. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Indore on November 25, 1987. He served as assistant parish priest at the cathedral of Indore from 1987 to 1990 and at the Catholic church of Jhabua from 1990 to 1992; as vice-principal of St. Paul School in Indore from 1992 to 1998 and as its principal from 1998 to 2002 and again from 2009 to 2015; as vice-rector of the minor seminary of Jhabua from 2003 to 2004; as rector of the minor seminary of Dewas and dean of the deanery of Dewas from 2004 to 2009; as parish priest of Dewas and dean of that deanery from 2015 to 2021; and as parish priest of St. Francis Cathedral in Indore from 2021 to 2024. On February 17, 2024, he was appointed Bishop of Indore. He received episcopal ordination on April 5, 2024, at Indore, with Chacko Thottumarickal as principal consecrator and Leo Cornelio and Alangaram Arockia Sebastian Durairaj as co-consecrators.
