Bishop of Inhambane
Bishop Ernesto Maguengue, Bishop of Inhambane, was born on August 2, 1964, at Chidenguele, in the Diocese of Xai-Xai, in Mozambique. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Maputo on May 14, 1989. On June 24, 2004, he was appointed Bishop of Pemba. He received episcopal ordination on October 24, 2004, at Maputo, with Alexandre José Maria dos Santos as principal consecrator and Francisco Chimoio and Júlio Duarte Langa as co-consecrators, and he was installed at Pemba on November 14, 2004. He resigned the government of Pemba on October 27, 2012. On August 6, 2014, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Nampula and Titular Bishop of Furnos Minor, and he served as Apostolic Administrator of Nampula from July 25, 2016, until June 11, 2017. On April 4, 2022, he was appointed Bishop of Inhambane, and he was installed on May 29, 2022.
