Bishop of Ji-Paraná
Norbert Hans Christoph Foerster, S.V.D., was born on July 9, 1960, in Bonn, Germany. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology in Münster, Germany; upon arriving in Brazil, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Theology from the *Centro de Ensino Superior de Juiz de Fora* in the state of Minas Gerais, a Licentiate in Religious Studies from the *Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo*, and a Doctorate from the *Universidade Metodista de São Paulo* in São Bernardo. He was ordained a priest on December 10, 1989. He has held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of São Francisco de Assis in Valo Velho, Diocese of Campo Limpo, SP (1990–1995); Vocation Promoter and Formator at the Diocesan Seminary of the Diocese of Registro (1996–2000); Provincial Councilor for the Brazil-Center Province of the Society of the Divine Word (1996–2001); Formator and Professor of Theology in Jardim Míriam (2001–2005); and Parochial Vicar of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in the Diocese of Santo Amaro (2006–2012). In the Diocese of Humaitá, he served as Vicar General, Cathedral Administrator (2013–2015), and Administrator of the *Costeira Beiradão* Mission (2016–2020). Most recently, he has served as a Professor of Theology at the *Seminário Maior João XXIII* in Porto Velho and as a Provincial Councilor for the Brazil-Center Province, based in São Paulo.
