Bishop Antranig Ayvazian

Bishop Antranig Ayvazian, Bishop of Kamichlé of the Armenians, Syria, was born on 29 August 1947 in Hassaké, Syria, and entered the seminary of Bzommar in Lebanon, pursuing studies at Saint Joseph University in Beirut and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Ordained a priest on 18 March 1972 for the eparchy of Kamichlié, he exercised his ministry between the eparchy and the parishes of Hassaké and Deir-el-Zor. In 1984 he was appointed archpriest. He founded several initiatives for the pastoral assistance of young people and persons with disabilities. He was director of parish schools and annually gives courses as a visiting professor at Yerevan State University in Armenia. He founded the Saint-Georges shrine at Hayko-Derbassie and is the director of Radio Maria Armenia. In addition to Arabic and Armenian, he speaks French and Italian.
