Bishop of Kalemie-Kirungu
Jean-Christophore Amade Aloma is Bishop of Kalemie-Kirungu, Congo [Dem. Rep.]. Christophe Amade, M.Afr., was born on 18 January 1961 in Mune. After primary studies in Bidri and Nyaguma (1967-1973) and secondary studies at Jean XXIII Minor Seminary in Vida (Mahagi-Nioka) and at the College of Ovoa (1973-1979), he taught at the Institut Technique Agricole in Laybo (Mahagi-Nioka) from 1979 to 1981. He then studied philosophy at Notre Dame de la Ruzizi Major Seminary in Bukavu (1981-1984), before entering the novitiate of the White Fathers in Fribourg (1984-1985). From 1985 to 1987, he carried out a period of pastoral training in the parish of Funsi, Diocese of Wa, in Ghana. He completed theological studies at the London Missionary Institute (1987-1990), in England, before being ordained a priest on 25 August 1990. After priestly ordination he held the following positions: 1990-1993: parish ministry in Funsi, in the Diocese of Wa, Ghana; 1993-1998: studies for the licentiate in philosophy in Rome; 1998-2004: lecturer and then rector of the Consortium of Philosophy in Jinja, Uganda; 2004-2009: doctorate in philosophy (2010) at the Pontifical Gregorian University; 2009-2013: lecturer in philosophy at the Consortium of Philosophy in Kumasi, Ghana; 2013-2014: lecturer in philosophy at St. Augustin University in Kinshasa; from 2014: provincial superior of the White Fathers for Central Africa.
