Archbishop of Kaunas
Kęstutis Kėvalas was born in Kaunas on February 17, 1972. After secondary school, he studied at the Faculty of Radio Engineering at Kaunas University of Technology from 1990 to 1992. In 1993, he entered the Kaunas Seminary, where he studied philosophy and theology until 1997, the year he continued his studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, USA. He subsequently obtained a Licentiate in Theology and was ordained a priest on June 29, 2000, in Kaunas Cathedral. From August 2001 to June 2005, he served as Director of the Propaedeutic Course at the archdiocesan seminary and as chaplain for the archdiocese's youth ministry. In February 2002, he began teaching moral theology at the Faculty of Theology of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. On January 18, 2008, he obtained his Doctorate in Theology from the same university. From June 2005 to August 2006, he served as spiritual director at the Kaunas Seminary. He then resumed his studies in the United States for a year, while simultaneously serving as chaplain at the Monastery of the Sisters of the Poor of Mary Immaculate in Putnam, Connecticut. Upon returning to the diocese, he exercised pastoral ministry at Kaunas Cathedral and served as a confessor at the seminary starting in 2007. On February 8, 2010, he was appointed Program Director of Radio Maria in Lithuania.
