Bishop of Kibungo
Jean-Marie Vianney Twagirayezu was born on July 21, 1960, in Nyundo. After completing his studies in Commerce and Accounting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and gaining work experience at a state-owned company, he studied Philosophy and Theology at the Nyakibanda Seminary in the Diocese of Kabgayi. He was ordained a priest on October 8, 1995, for the clergy of Nyundo. He held the following positions and pursued further studies: Parish Priest in Muramba and Kibingo, Diocese of Nyundo (1995–1997); Licentiate in Pastoral Theology from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium (1997–2000); Director of Diocesan Caritas (2000–2009); Bursar of the Diocese of Nyundo (2002–2009); and Licentiate in Project Management from the Université Catholique de Louvain (2009–2016). Since 2016, he has served as Secretary General of Caritas Rwanda.
