Archbishop Kenneth David Oswin Richards

Archbishop Kenneth David Oswin Richards, Archbishop of Kingston in Jamaica, was born on August 16, 1958, at Linstead, in the parish of St. Catherine and in the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica. After his primary studies at the Catholic school of Linstead he entered St. Michael's Major Seminary, at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in theology, and during his seminary studies he also obtained a licentiate in moral theology from the Catholic University of America. He was ordained a priest on September 29, 1985. In the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica he served as assistant priest at Holy Cross from 1985 to 1989, as parish priest of St. Benedict and the African Martyrs from 1989 to 1995, and as parish priest of the two parishes of St. Jude and St. Patrick from 1995 to 2003. He was archdiocesan director of vocations from 2002 to 2005 and president of the priests' council from 2004 to 2008, and from 2004 a member of the school council of St. George's College and of Holy Trinity High School and director of the cathedral. From 2008 he was vicar general of the archdiocese. On November 19, 2011, he was appointed Bishop of Saint John's-Basseterre, in the Antilles. He received episcopal ordination on February 8, 2012, with Donald James Reece as principal consecrator and Robert Rivas and Gabriel Malzaire as co-consecrators. On April 29, 2016, he was appointed Archbishop of Kingston in Jamaica, and he was installed on July 6, 2016.
