Bishop of Kontum
Luy Gonzaga Nguyễn Hùng Vị was born on August 18, 1952, in Hanoi. From 1963 to 1968, he received his priestly formation at the minor seminary of the Diocese of Kontum, and subsequently, from 1969 to 1973, he attended the minor seminary in Đà Lạt. From 1973 to 1977, he was a student at the Pontifical College of Saint Pius X in Đà Lạt. Afterward, from 1977 to 1990, he served at the parish of Bình Cang in the Diocese of Nha Trang while awaiting government permission for priestly ordination. He was ordained a priest on April 7, 1990, in Nha Trang and incardinated into the Diocese of Kontum. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1990–1993: Parochial Vicar of Bình Cang, Nha Trang; 1993–2006: Director of the Kontum minor seminary (located in Ho Chi Minh City); 2006–2008: Studies at the Institut Catholique de Paris, France, where he obtained a Licentiate in Liturgy; 2008–2009: Secretary of the episcopal office in Kontum; since 2009, he has served as Parish Priest of Phương Nghĩa, Kontum.
