Bishop of Kribi
Bishop Damase Zinga Atangana, Bishop of Kribi, Cameroon, was born on 9 December 1964 in Nkog Bong, in the diocese of Obala. After primary studies in his native village and secondary studies first at Collège Jean XXIII in Efok and then at the Sainte Thérèse minor seminary and Collège Vogt in Yaoundé, he took philosophy and theology courses at the Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception interdiocesan major seminary at Nkolbison in Yaoundé. He was ordained a priest on 25 July 1992 and incardinated in the diocese of Obala. He later studied in France, where he obtained a doctorate in Moral Theology, a diploma in History and Sciences of Religions at Charles de Gaulle University in Lille, and a specialization in Bioethics at Marc Bloch University in Strasbourg. After priestly ordination he held the following offices: rector of Saint Joseph minor seminary in Efok from 1992 to 1997; specialized studies in France from 1997 to 2003; vicar general of Obala from 2003; pastor of Sainte Anne and diocesan chaplain of the Dames Apostoliques from 2003 to 2010; national officer for the permanent formation of the clergy from 2009; and rector of the cathedral, under construction, Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel from 2010. He is a member of the National Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith.
