Father George Madathikandathil was born on May 9, 1956, in Purapuzha, in the Eparchy of Kothamangalam (India). He was ordained a priest on December 23, 1980, and served in the parishes of Arakuzha Cathedral, Pyngottoor, and Njarakad. Sent to Rome, he obtained a doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Oriental Institute. From 1990 to 2010, he taught Canon Law at St. Thomas Pontifical Seminary in Vadavathoor, where he also served as Vice-Rector and Rector. Finally, he was the parish priest of St. Mary’s Church, Arakuzha. In addition to Malayalam and English, he speaks Italian and German.
