Bishop Serafino Parisi

The Holy Father has appointed Serafino Parisi—a priest of the Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina, a parish priest, and the Director of the Diocesan Biblical School—as Bishop of the Diocese of Lamezia Terme. Msgr. Serafino Parisi was born on January 3, 1962, in Santa Severina (in the province of Crotone and the Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina). He obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, a Licentiate in Biblical Sciences from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, a Doctorate from the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy, and a degree in Philosophy from the University of Tor Vergata. He was ordained a priest on April 25, 1987. He has served as Parish Priest of Santa Maria Maggiore in Santa Severina; Parish Administrator (and subsequently Parish Priest from 1990 to 1994) of San Tommaso d’Aquino in Altilia; Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Care and Culture; and a member of both the Diocesan Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors. During the 1990s, he served as Diocesan Assistant for Catholic Action and Director of the Diocesan School for Socio-Political Formation. He also served as Parish Priest of San Nicola Vescovo in Cotronei (1994–2000) and of Cristo Risorto in Steccato di Cutro (2000–2003); member of the Diocesan Board of Administration; representative of the Diocese of Crotone-Santa Severina on the Regional Presbyteral Commission; Vice President of the IDSC (Diocesan Institute for Clergy Support); Director of the Diocesan Catechetical Office; and member of the Regional Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith and Catechesis. He is a lecturer in New Testament Greek, Hebrew, and Biblical Exegesis at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy in Naples, a registered journalist, and the Director of *Vivarium*, a journal of theological sciences. Until now, he has served as Director of the Bèt Jòseph Diocesan Biblical School and Parish Priest of San Dionigi in Crotone.
