Archbishop of Lecce
The Holy Father has appointed Angelo Raffaele Panzetta—a priest of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Taranto and until now the Dean of the Apulian Theological Institute—as Archbishop of Crotone-Santa Severina (Italy). Angelo Raffaele Panzetta was born on August 26, 1966, in Pulsano, in the province and archdiocese of Taranto. He attended the minor seminary and, after completing his classical high school studies, entered the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Molfetta, where he completed his studies with a Baccalaureate in Theology. He was ordained a priest on April 14, 1993. In 1994, he obtained a Licentiate in Moral Theology, and in 2000, a Doctorate from the Alphonsian Academy in Rome. He served as an assistant pastor in Pulsano, as private secretary to the Archbishop (H.E. Msgr. Papa), and as ecclesiastical assistant to the Catholic Doctors and the Secular Institute of the Missionaries of the Kingship of Christ for the ecclesiastical province of Taranto; he also directed the diocesan office and subsequently the regional office for family pastoral care. From 2006 to the present, he has served as the diocesan spiritual assistant for the "Jesus Loves" (*Gesù ama*) Community of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. He has provided pastoral assistance in various parish communities within the Archdiocese of Taranto: in Martina Franca, Montemesola, Taranto, and Carosino. Furthermore, he served as spiritual director at the Interdiocesan Seminary of Poggio Galeso from 2000 to 2002, and at the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Molfetta from 2008 to 2011. He subsequently became a lecturer in Moral Theology at the Institute of Religious Sciences in Taranto (1994–1998) and has also taught at the Santa Fara Theological Institute in Bari and the Regina Apuliae Theological Institute in Molfetta. Concurrently, at the Apulian Theological Faculty, he served as a permanent extraordinary lecturer and held the roles of Vice-Dean (2008–2011) and, until now, Dean.
