Bishop of Leribe
Vitalis Sekhonyana Marole, O.M.I., was born on December 10, 1954, in Semonkong, Lesotho, within the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Maseru. He studied Philosophy at the Oblate Scholasticate in Lesotho and Theology at St. John Vianney National Major Seminary in Pretoria, South Africa. He was ordained a priest on December 3, 1988, and made his perpetual vows on December 9, 1996. He has held the following positions: Parish Priest of St. Elizabeth’s in Mamaneng, Pretoria (1988–1992); Parish Priest of St. Peter’s in Kagiso 1, Johannesburg (1993–1994); member of the formation team at the Rayton Pre-novitiate, Pretoria (1994–1998); Parish Priest of St. Raphael’s in Mamelodi, Pretoria (1994–2000); Dean of the Eastern Deanery (1999–2000); Novice Master at the International Oblate Novitiate, Johannesburg (2002–2009 and 2015–2016); Parish Priest of St. Anne’s in Atteridgeville and Chaplain of Holy Trinity High School, Pretoria (2011–2013); Chaplain of St. Benedict’s College in Bedfordview (2013–2014); and Parish Priest of St. Peter’s in Cullinan and St. Eugene de Mazenod in Refilwe. Since 2018, he has served as Parish Priest of Moya and St. Matthew’s in the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Pretoria and as a Consultor for the same Archdiocese, as well as a Provincial Consultor for the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in South Africa.
