Bishop Yves-Marie Péan

Yves-Marie Péan, C.S.C., was born in Pilate (Province and Diocese of Cap-Haïtien) on May 25, 1954. After completing his primary and secondary education at the "Notre Dame" College run by the Brothers of Christian Instruction in Cap-Haïtien, he studied philosophy and theology at the "Notre Dame" Major Seminary in Port-au-Prince. During this period, he also obtained a Licentiate in Anthropological and Sociological Sciences from the State University of Haiti (*Université d’État d’Haïti*). He made his first religious profession in the Congregation of Holy Cross on September 8, 1976, and his perpetual profession on August 12, 1983. He was ordained a priest in Cap-Haïtien on October 16, 1983. After six years serving as pastor of the Borgne parish in the Diocese of Cap-Haïtien and one year as novice master for his Congregation, he was sent to Rome (1990–1993) to pursue further studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he obtained a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology. For two years (1993–1995), he served as director of the Scholasticate in Port-au-Prince and as a member of his Congregation's formation commission; subsequently, he became pastor of the "Sainte-Rose de Lima" parish in Pilate, in the Diocese of Cap-Haïtien (1995–1997). Since 1997, he has served as Rector of the philosophy section of the "Notre Dame" Major Seminary and as a professor at that same institution, as well as at the University of Notre Dame of Haiti (*Université Notre Dame d’Haïti*) in Port-au-Prince. He is the author of several articles on the subject of the family.
