Bishop José Rojas Rojas Jr.

Bishop José Rojas Rojas, Bishop of Libmanan, was born on August 18, 1956, in Cebu City, in the Archdiocese of Caceres. He studied philosophy and theology at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary of Caceres, and subsequently obtained a licentiate in theology from the Central Seminary of Manila in 1982 and doctorates in moral theology and in philosophy from the University of Louvain (1985-1987). He was ordained a priest for Caceres on March 29, 1981. After a year as assistant parish priest and on his return from studies abroad, he taught moral theology for some years at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary of Caceres, of which he was then rector for three three-year terms from 1989 to 1998. He served as president of the diocesan commission for the doctrine of the faith and as a judge of the ecclesiastical tribunal of Caceres, and later as parish priest of the Immaculate Conception in Naga City and vicar general of the Archdiocese of Caceres. On July 25, 2005, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Idassa and Auxiliary Bishop of Caceres. He received episcopal ordination on September 15, 2005, with Antonio Franco as principal consecrator and Adolfo Tito Camacho Yllana and Leonardo Zamora Legaspi as co-consecrators. On May 19, 2008, he was appointed Prelate of Libmanan, and he was installed on July 2, 2008. On March 25, 2009, he was appointed Bishop of Libmanan.
