Bishop of Líbano-Honda
José Luis Henao Cadavid was born in Andes, in the Diocese of Jericó, on April 7, 1954. He completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical Bolivarian University in Medellín and obtained a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on December 15, 1979, and incardinated into the Diocese of Jericó. Subsequently, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar at the parishes of “San Rafael Arcángel” in Betania (1980–1982), “Inmaculada Concepción” in Caramanta (1982), “Santa Teresa de Avila” in Palermo (1983), and “San Pablo Apóstol” in Támesis; Parish Priest of “Santa Rita de Cascia” in Andes (1984–1987); Parochial Vicar of “San Antonio” in Támesis; Rector of the “San Juan Eudes” Minor Seminary in Jericó (1990–1993); Defender of the Bond at the Tribunal (1992–2005); Judge at the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Medellín (1993); Parish Priest of “San Pablo de Tarso” in Tarso (1993–1998); Diocesan Delegate for Lay and Social Pastoral Care (1993–2002); Diocesan Vicar for Pastoral Care (1998–2005); Rector of the Diocesan Major Seminary (2002–2005); Parish Priest of the Cathedral (2005–2012); and, since 2012, Parish Priest of “Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes” in Andes. Monsignor José Luis Henao Cadavid was born in Andes (Antioquia) on April 7, 1954. He is the son of Luis Ángel Henao and María del Carmen Cadavid. He attended primary school at the Juan XXIII Pre-Seminary in Jericó and completed his secondary education at the Diocese's Minor Seminary. With the authorization of the Bishop of Jericó, H.E. Msgr. Augusto Aristizábal, he pursued studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical Bolivarian University in Medellín, residing at the Diocesan Major Seminary in that city. He also completed postgraduate studies in Theology at the same university and obtained a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. On October 17, 2015, he was appointed Bishop of Líbano-Honda by Pope Francis. His episcopal ordination took place on November 21, 2015, at the Cathedral of Jericó, and he canonically took possession of the see on December 5, 2015.
