Bishop Celso Ba Shwe

Bishop Celso Ba Shwe is Bishop of Loikaw. He was born on 22 July 1964 in Momblo, in the diocese of Loikaw. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in history at Yangon State University before entering Saint Theresa's Minor Seminary in Taunggyi in 1988. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at Saint Joseph's Major Seminary in Pyin Oo Lwin and in Yangon from 1989 to 1994. He was ordained a priest on 16 April 1994 for the diocese of Loikaw. Bishop Ba Shwe has served as parish assistant in Doungankha from 1994 to 1995; diocesan director of Voluntary Evangelizers (Zetaman) and youth in Loikaw from 1995 to 1999; diocesan co-procurator in Loikaw from 1999 to 2000; procurator general of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Myanmar (CBCM) in Yangon from 2000 to 2009; parish priest of Sacred Heart in Phasaung from 2009 to 2010; and, since 2010, parish priest of Christ the King Cathedral and vicar general of Loikaw. From 2020 to date, he has served as diocesan administrator of Loikaw.
