Bishop of Lolo
Jean-Bertin Nadonye Ndongo, O.F.M. Cap., was born on March 24, 1965, in Botuzu, Equateur Province, in the Diocese of Molegbe. After attending primary school in Bozene (1971–1978), he attended secondary school in Bongisa/Bwamanda (1978–1984). He studied philosophy at the Saint Laurent Friary in Bwamanda (1985–1988) and theology at the Saint Eugène de Mazenod Institute in Kitambo (1989–1993). He subsequently obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Catholic University of Kinshasa (1994–1996). He also holds a diploma in *Enseignement secondaire, degré supérieur* (upper-level secondary education). He made his first religious profession on September 17, 1989, and his perpetual profession on September 17, 1992. He was ordained a priest on August 2, 1993. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1993–1995: Parochial Vicar at Saint Elisabeth in Gemena, Diocese of Molegbe; 1995–1996: Vice-Rector of the Capuchin Friars' House of Philosophy Studies in Kinshasa; 1996–1997: Novice Master and lecturer at the Institute of Religious Sciences in Bwamanda; 1997–1998: First Councilor of the General Vice-Province of the Congo; 1998–2001: Parish Priest of Sacré-Cœur de Jésus in Bwamanda and member of the Economic Council of the Diocese of Molegbe; 2001–2005: Formator and Rector of the House of Studies in Kinshasa; Vice-Coordinator of the Franciscan Family in Kinshasa; Member of the Commission for the revision of the Constitutions and General Statutes (2003); 2005–2009: Vice-Provincial Minister and subsequently Provincial Minister of the Capuchin Friars in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and President of the Conference of Capuchins of Central and West Africa (C.O.N.C.A.O); 2009–2011: President of the Board of Directors of the Saint Augustin Institute in Kinshasa; 2011–2012: President of ASUMA (Assemblée des Supérieurs Majeurs). Since 2012, he has served as General Councilor of the Capuchin Friars Minor in Rome.
