Bishop Claudio Lurati

Claudio Lurati was born on February 21, 1962, in Como (Italy), where he completed his secondary education. He subsequently joined the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus, where he undertook studies in philosophy and theology and made his temporary vows in 1985. He obtained a Baccalaureate degree through the Urbaniana University in Nairobi (Kenya) and made his perpetual vows on March 27, 1989. He was ordained a priest on September 23, 1989, in Lipomo (Como). He completed his training with a course on asset management organized by the inter-congregational body C.N.E.C. During the early years of his priesthood, he dedicated himself to missionary publishing; in 1995, he was sent to present-day South Sudan and subsequently to Egypt, where he carried out parish ministry until his appointment as Vice Superior of the Comboni Missionaries Delegation in 1999, later serving as its Superior from 2002 to 2007. He currently serves as the General Treasurer of his Congregation.
