Archbishop of Lubango
Archbishop Gabriel Mbilingi, C.S.Sp., Archbishop of Lubango, was born on January 17, 1958, in Bié Province, Angola. He is a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. He was ordained a priest for the same institute on February 26, 1984. On October 15, 1999, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Lwena. He received episcopal ordination on January 6, 2000, with John Paul II as principal consecrator and Giovanni Battista Re and Marcello Zago as co-consecrators. He succeeded to the see as Bishop of Lwena on June 7, 2000. On December 11, 2006, he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Lubango. He succeeded to the see as Archbishop of Lubango on September 5, 2009.
