Archbishop of Lublin
Archbishop Stanisław Budzik, Archbishop of Lublin, was born on April 25, 1952, in Łękawica, in the Diocese of Tarnów. Having passed his secondary school examinations at a state school, he entered the diocesan seminary of Tarnów in 1971. He was ordained a priest for Tarnów on May 27, 1977. He served as parochial vicar at Limanowa (1977-1980) and in the cathedral parish (1980-1982), and then studied dogmatic theology at Innsbruck, where he obtained a doctorate (1982-1989). On returning to the diocese he served as parochial vicar of St. Maximilian Kolbe parish in Tarnów and diocesan head of charitable ministry (1989); director of the diocesan Caritas (1989-1990); and director of the diocesan publishing house Biblos (1990-1995). In 1998 he obtained his habilitation at the Pontifical Theological Academy in Kraków. He served as rector of the diocesan seminary of Tarnów from 1999, as lecturer in dogmatic theology at the seminary from 1989 and at the Theological Institute from 1994, and as a member of the presbyteral council and of the college of consultors and provost of the cathedral chapter. On February 24, 2004, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Hálar and Auxiliary Bishop of Tarnów. He received episcopal ordination on April 3, 2004, at Tarnów, with Wiktor Paweł Skworc as principal consecrator and Józef Kowalczyk and Józef Mirosław Życiński as co-consecrators. On September 26, 2011, he was appointed Archbishop of Lublin, and he was installed on October 22, 2011.
