Bishop Angelo Giurdanella

Angelo Giurdanella was born on February 24, 1956, in Modica. After completing his studies at the minor seminary in Noto, he attended the San Paolo Theological Institute in Catania, where he finished his formation in philosophy and theology. He was ordained a priest on December 27, 1983, and incardinated into the Diocese of Noto. He has held the following offices: Vice-Rector of the Diocesan Seminary (1982–1984); Parochial Vicar of Ecce Homo al Pantheon in Noto (1983–1984); Parochial Vicar of the Sacred Heart (1984–1988) and of Saints John the Baptist and Paul in Avola (1988–1989); Parish Priest of Saints John the Baptist and Paul in Avola (1989–2010); Member of the Diocesan Presbyteral Council (since 2008); Member of the College of Consultors and Diocesan Chaplain for Italian Catholic Action (since 2008); Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy (2009–2010); Vicar General of the Diocese and Rector of the Cathedral Basilica of San Nicolò (since 2010); Chaplain of His Holiness (since 2011); and Director of Diocesan Caritas (since 2019). The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Mazara del Vallo presented by H.E. Msgr. Domenico Mogavero and has appointed Msgr. Angelo Giurdanella—previously Vicar General of the Diocese of Noto—as Bishop of the same diocese. H.E. Msgr. Angelo Giurdanella, Bishop of Mazara del Vallo: Msgr.
