Bishop Rolando José Álvarez Lagos

Rolando José Álvarez Lagos is Apostolic Administrator of Estelí, Nicaragua. Rolando José Álvarez Lagos was born in Managua on 27 November 1966. He completed ecclesiastical studies in Philosophy and Theology in Guatemala and at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He obtained a licentiate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 7 December 1994 for the Archdiocese of Managua. He held several roles: professor and prefect of studies at the Archdiocesan Major Seminary of Managua from 1994 to 2006; archdiocesan coordinator of youth ministry from 1998; director of Radio Católica de Nicaragua from 2001; secretary of the Department of Social Communications Media of the Nicaraguan Episcopal Conference from 2003; secretary for information and spokesperson of the Archdiocese of Managua from 2005; national coordinator of youth ministry from 2006; parish priest of San Francisco de Asís in Managua from 2006; and assistant secretary of the Secretariat of the Episcopate of Central America from 2009.
