Bishop Ángel Luis Ríos Matos

Ángel Luis Río Matos was born in Aguada on October 5, 1956. Having received his formation within the Secular Institute of the Missionary Brothers of Charity, he studied Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico and Theology at the Javeriana University in Bogotá, obtaining a Baccalaureate in both disciplines. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Mayagüez on January 11, 1985. After completing his studies in Canon Law with a doctorate, he served as a vicar, administrator, and parish priest in various parishes; as head of youth and vocational ministry; as spiritual director of the *Cursillos de Cristiandad* movement; as a professor at the Interamerican University; as a member of the College of Consultors and the Commission for Secular Clergy Social Security; and as a judge of the diocesan tribunal. Currently, he serves as President of the diocesan tribunal, parish priest of "San Sebastián Mártir," and a lecturer at the Pontifical University's School of Law.
