Bishop of Mbanza Congo
Rev. Fr. Vicente Carlos Kiaziku, O.F.M. Cap., was born on August 28, 1957, in Kimacaka Bamba, in the Diocese of Uíje (Angola). After completing his secondary and philosophical studies in Angola, he was sent to Venice to attend the Capuchin Friars' School of Theology. He first donned the Capuchin habit on September 22, 1974; he made his first profession on September 28, 1975, and his perpetual profession on June 10, 1984. He was ordained a priest on June 2, 1985. Following his ordination, he continued his studies, obtaining a licentiate in Educational Sciences from the Salesian University in Rome. Upon returning to his homeland, he dedicated himself to the formation of friars in the Vice-Province of Angola and became a professor at the Major Seminary in Uíje. He also served as Master of Postulants and Novices. He held the positions of First Councilor of the Vice-Province of Angola and General Councilor for Africa. Finally, on July 17, 2000, he was elected General Councilor of the Order, a position he still holds.
