Bishop of Mbinga
John Chrisostom Ndimbo was born in the village of Kipololo, in the parish of Lundumato (Diocese of Mbinga), on October 12, 1960. In 1966, he began his primary education at the parish school, and from 1970, he continued his studies at the Hanga Minor Seminary. From 1974 to 1977, he attended the initial secondary classes at the Likonde Minor Seminary and completed his upper secondary education at the Nyegezi Seminary in Mwanza. After completing a year of military service, he entered the Peramiho Major Seminary in 1982, where he studied philosophy and theology (1983–1989). He was ordained a priest on June 21, 1989, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Mbinga. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: teacher at the Likonde Minor Seminary (1989–1990); Rector and teacher at the Likonde Minor Seminary, as well as Diocesan Education Secretary and Director of the Board of St. Louis Girls’ Secondary School (1995–2010). From 1991 to 1994, he was sent to the Philippines to study scientific subjects, earning a B.A. and a Master’s Degree in Education Management from De La Salle University in Manila. In October 2010, he was appointed Executive Secretary of the Education Department for the Tanzania Episcopal Conference.
