Bishop of Croatia
Jure Bogdan is Bishop of Croatia, Military. He was born on 9 November 1955 in Donji Dolac, Archdiocese of Split-Makarska. He studied at the minor seminary of Split and took the philosophy and theology course at the major seminary of Split (1973-1980). He was ordained a priest on 22 June 1980 for the Archdiocese of Split-Makarska. He served as parochial vicar of Saint Nicholas in Metkovic and then as spiritual father of the archdiocesan minor seminary. In 1992 he was sent to Rome, to the Pontifical Croatian College, to follow specialization courses at the Pastoral Institute of the Pontifical Lateran University, where in 1999 he obtained a doctorate in pastoral theology. On 2 December 1996, on the designation of the Croatian bishops, the Congregation for Catholic Education appointed him rector of the Pontifical Croatian College of Saint Jerome in Rome, an office reconfirmed in 2006 until the time of the source.
