Bishop of Hungary
Tibor Berta was born on June 19, 1966, in Kaposvár, in the diocese of the same name in Somogy County. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Esztergom (1986–1991). He was ordained a priest on June 20, 1991, and incardinated into the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Veszprém, where he served as parochial vicar at the *Gyümölcsoltó Boldogasszony* parish in Marcali (1991–1993). From 1993 to 1994, he served as assistant pastor at the Cathedral of Kaposvár. In 1994, he transferred to the Diocese of Kaposvár and began his priestly ministry within the Military Ordinariate of Hungary, where he was definitively incardinated in 2009. Within the Military Ordinariate, he held the following positions: Secretary to the Military Ordinary (1994–1997); military chaplain in Szombathely (1997–2003); overseas mission service with NATO’s International Security Assistance Force for the restoration of order and peace in Kosovo (2002–2003); Dean of the Military Ordinariate (2003–2005); Honorary Military Chaplain (2005–2008); and chaplain at the MH ÖHP military base in Székesfehérvár (2008). Since 2007, he has served as Vicar General of the Military Ordinariate for Hungary.
