Bishop of Philippines
Oscar Jaime Lianeta Florencio was born in Capoocan, Leyte, on February 5, 1966. He attended elementary school at Burauen North Central Elementary School in Burauen (Leyte) and pursued high school and philosophy studies at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Palo (Leyte). He completed his theology studies at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. On April 3, 1990, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Palo. From 1994 to 1999, he obtained a Licentiate and a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. Since 1990, he has held various pastoral roles in the diocese: parochial vicar, spiritual director, educator, parish priest of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish (2004–2006) and Sacred Heart Parish (2006–2009), as well as Vice-Rector for Administration at the Saint John the Evangelist School of Theology in Palo (Leyte). In 2013, he was appointed Rector of the same institution. On July 3, 2015, he was elected Titular Bishop of Lestrona and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cebu. Since June 17, 2017, he has served as Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines.
