Bishop Egidio Miragoli

The Pope has appointed Egidio Miragoli—a priest of the Diocese of Lodi—as Bishop of the Diocese of Mondovì. Until now, he has served as Pastor of the Santa Francesca Cabrini parish in Lodi, as a judge at the Lombard Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal, and as a lecturer in Canon Law. Bishop Egidio Miragoli was born in Gradella di Pandino on July 20, 1955. He studied at the Diocesan Seminary of Lodi and attended the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he earned a Doctorate in Canon Law. He is an expert on the Sacrament of Penance. Ordained a priest on June 23, 1979, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Lodi. He has held the following positions: private secretary to Bishop Magnani (Bishop Emeritus of Treviso) and Bishop Capuzzi (Bishop Emeritus of Lodi) from 1982 to 1994; pastoral collaborator at San Fereolo; Director of the Theological Studies program at the Bishop's Seminary from 1988 to 1994; Defender of the Bond at the Diocesan Tribunal from 1985 to 2003; Promoter of Justice from 1988 to 2003; Director of the Maria Santissima Immacolata and San Pio X Priestly Institute from 1990 to 2004; and lecturer in Canon Law at the United Theological Studies program for the seminaries of Crema, Cremona, Lodi, and Vigevano since 1982. He has served as Pastor of Santa Francesca Cabrini in Lodi since 1994, as Vicar Forane for the city of Lodi since 2006, and as a judge at the Lombard Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal since 2007. He is a co-founder and member of the editorial board of the journal *Quaderni di Diritto Ecclesiale*, in which he has published various articles, including "Il Sacramento della Penitenza" (The Sacrament of Penance) in 2015.
